I need a recommendation on which Bernina foot to buy to do some couching for a class next week using 5wt Perle Cotton. I looked in my accessory booklet and there are a few feet to choose from. I am hoping another Bernina owner might have a recommendation on which foot to buy. Thanks.

I used #43 for the free motion couching on this pillow.

I have the #43 as well. Seems to be pretty versatile. And it is the foot that my couching class instructor recommended.

I recommend foot 12c, you can use this on a 5.5mm machine as well as 9mm. It has a hole for the cord to pass through so you can control it.

This foot has multiple uses, it is also for bulky overlocking, cording and I use it for applying stay tape on my garments.

I love #43, but it only works with certain weights, if your thread is too skinny, it won't catch right, too thick and it won't pass through.

I use that one when the material is the right size, but I use the Creative Feet with a bernina adaptor for all other couching.

Thanks for the suggestions. The pillow is just beautiful. My sister had the #43 foot for me to borrow. I will try it out with the Perle cotton, if it does work out, i have next week to buy another foot that was recommended. Again, I do appreciate the help!

If I recall, the 43 is for free motion couching. The 12/12C is for regular stitching. Depends on what technique you'll be doing.

I have read that the #43 foot can be persnickety and is best used with that heavy weight cord.

# 21 foot might be a good option.

Also, the open-toe applique foot #20 is what I used in a class, centuries ago, in a couching class.
