Hi All,

I have been searching the web for this for a very long time. I have found three sites that offer online training (pasted below).

I was looking for a more comprehensive course on pattern making / pattern drafting and fashion design (eventually). I want to learn as much as possible. I would love to become a pattern designer. Does anyone have any suggestions other than the following websites? I am looking at trying not to spend thousands on online training. I know the ideal training environment for this sort of thing would be in class, however it will not work for me right now. I would prefer to learn at my own pace.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than what I have found below?

http://www.craftsy.com

http://www.etelestia.com/

http://esewingworkshop.com/

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks all.

Don McCunn has online classes. He's retiring at the end of the year, but his class notes and videos can be downloaded so you can access them after he retires and his Yahoo group will still be running.

The only class I found relevant to actual drafting at Craftsy was the Draping class with Paul Gallo. Not bad and he did demo how to flat draft a basic sleeve for the bodice and skirt that have been draped.
I'm very budget minded so books have been my primary source of flat pattern drafting info so far.
The first one I got was Armstrong's Patternmaking for Fashion Design because it's draft was the same as was used in my pattern software. The reason at the time was I wanted to figure out some pattern manipulations vs. basic block drafting, but I've since realized there's variations of doing that. Don't laugh..never knew there was such a thing as European or Bunka vs American or that you had different blocks for stretch vs. a woven 4 yrs ago.
Some of the books I have now I've checked out at our city and university library beforehand, so you can try before you buy. Also don't forget some of the vintage writings are free... Anybody who watches The Perfect Nose blog is rewarded with vintage finds that have become public domain.
Then there's tutorial sites like Leenas Patternmaker Tutorials, don't have to have the software to work up the basic block drafts.
There's some sites that also offer blocks to work from like The Sewing Space and pattern.stringcodes.com. Oh..do pick up the their free Patternmaking calculator..it's WAY awesome in converting from imperial to metric to fractions!Use that sucker ALL the time.
So..there's a lot of stuff to explore and at not much cost. The most expensive book I own is $65 - the Harriet Pepin's Pattern Design reprint from The Center For Pattern Design site. There is s a free .pdf of this book floating around too..the only difference is a few pages absent near the end I think, but it's not damaging.
Anyway, I don't know what your experience is in drafting so if this is all old hat to you, carry on. I've not taken classes at any of the other sites you listed, but there's enough stuff floating around to keep me occupied for now. < : )
