I belonged to this over 20 years ago and thought I would check it out. Fabric has changed a lot I understand but I am so surprised to see tshirt knit that has to be hand washed! With the new machine that can wash delicate things could you use that cycle? My dh does the laundry due to my health and I donot know how that would go. I need to order on line fabric because it is 40 miles to a store. Can anyone suggest another online store?

I do very delicate items in the hand wash cycle of my machine and have not had any problems. I also pre-wash everything before I cut out a pattern.
Depending on what you want to spend and what you're looking for, Emma One Sock has terrific knits and excellent customer service. Gorgeous Fabrics is very good too. I've used Spandex World for swimsuit fabric and I've been happy with their quality.

I usually use the hand wash cycle on my machine for delicate things, it doesn't seem to hurt anything. Fabric content is what usually determines how you wash it, is this knit made of rayon? Rayon is notoriously wussy about being washed. Fabric.com is another popular fabric site, with free shipping for orders over $35.

I use the hand wash and delicate cycles regularly on my machine. I also did FF club 20 years ago. Now I buy most of my online fabrics from Fabric Mart, http://www.fabricmartfabrics.com
and have been very pleased with their service and website. They seem to give more info about the fabric than the other sites, and often they have more than one view of the fabric so you can get a better idea what it looks like.

I have way too many yards to count, and I will never use them up, but I will die trying!

Since I have bought one of the new high tech front loader washers I have not done any handwashing the old fashion way. Everything goes in the wash on either delicate or on the handwash cycle. They do an amazing job!
My new dryer even has one of those dry flat inserts which in the 3 years I have owned it I had absolutely no use for until one night I realized I really had nothing to wear that was clean and need to wash a hand wash a lay flat to dry thing to wear in like 2 hours. I washed on hand wash cycle, then put dryer rack in the dryer and set on super low, the air flow dried my dress in 45 minutes. What a life saver that night!
