So I have everything laid out on my cutting table for Spouts finally just about all the sashing is done. But it was a little stuffy in my room so I opened a window. It was a little breezy yesterday. Well while I was downstairs getting a drink(had I known what was about to happen I would have made it whiskey, just kidding I don't drink) anyway come back up to find the carefully laid out pieces blown all over the room. It's like putting a puzzle back together. Also I'm missing a piece. When I say all over I meant all over I found pieces everywhere. You have to have the center blocks of the stars right so all the sashing meets right. It's all been sewn that way. Each block effects 4 sashing pieces and there are 20 center blocks. I did have notes on what the center blocks were but things aren't matching up as there are various choices. after all this work it's nightmare. It's ok you can laugh as you imagine all the blocks blowing all over the place. Hopefully I will laugh about it soon also.

Might have helped to have that whiskey after all.. although I am a tequila gal myself.. I always knew a good drink helped when working with plaids.. never realized it would help in quilting. The things we learn on PR..
i CAN'T open my windows right now.. if I do the kitties all come inside thru my windows.. and then I do have a problem ..
But your post is EXACTLY why I no longer have a ceiling fan in my Sewing Room.. no kidding..

Hi pigling nice to see you back on the board. I was determined to get this resolved after dreaming of fabric pieces all night, so before work this morning I went upstairs and in a matter of 10 minutes had it all back together. I guess I was just tired last night and it overwhelmed me. One of the pieces was throwing me off and then I remembered the first sashing piece I did, I did it with the wrong sashing color and made a note to myself at the end to go back and redo it. Well of course I forgot. So now everything is as it should be and I can get started on the applique blocks now.

I will be putting the AC in the window soon so I won't have to worry about this.

Take a picture next time so you will know how it went together. Notes are wonderful. I write a lot of things down, and it saves my sanity. I am glad you got it back together. I think I would have cried seeing things blown all over the place.

I've been thinking it would be nice to have a small design wall. What's the easiest way to make one?

Oh gosh Wolf! I have done that too, only not the whole quilt laid out, just one block.

Glad you got it back together!

I can't open my window anymore, the pollen gets on EVERYTHING. Ugg we left the downstairs windows open and what a mess our couch was, dark brown leather COVERED in yellow pollen. I can't even breathe and I am so dizzy I have to lay down most of the day.

I would think a piece of thin plywood covered with batting (for pinning), enclosed by a piece of flannel and stapled with a staple gun. I'm thinking for something really light, if they make them anymore those old cardboard mats that unfolded to layout fabric etc. I don't think they make them anymore. I don't really have the room for one. As it is I'm tired of moving stuff around to get to other stuff.

I made mine from flannel and fastened it to the wall, like you might hang a quilt.

They do still make/sell those. I have my elderly one (I use it for protecting my kitchen table from my cutting and from my machines when I use them), but I've seen them recently at both JoAnn's and Walmart! (And I was surprised to see them.)
