What kind of needle?

I want to sew a cotton binding around a light-weight knit blanket. (The knit will be sandwiched between the cotton.) Should I use a ball-point needle or can I use a regular needle?

This is one of those things you probably want to make up with a few samples first. I would try a Microtex needle, a universal needle, and a stretch needle to see which works best.

I'd try a universal first. Since the cotton woven is the surface that will be next to the foot and the feed dogs, I'd lean toward the normal needles to use with wovens next, like a sharp or denim needle.

You might also want to stabilize your knit before sewing - maybe with wash-away wonder tape rather than just pins, it'll help keep the binding on as you sew and stabilize the stitching area and keep it from stretching out or getting squirrely.

Thanks for your advice. This is a low-dollar project so if I botch it, es no importante. In reality, I may be the only person to ever see the finished project. I have only regular and denim needles. I'll try these before buying others. I appreciate your suggestions.
