My daughters want me to make sports shorts for them. Shorts we have purchased from Nike say "polyester" on the label. It is NOT the 4-way stretch I've seen at fabric stores for making leotards and swimsuits. What do I look for?

I like the Jump Shot mesh fabric for sportswear. They have some on fabric.com. Not sure if this is what you are looking for though.

The shiney ones like basketball shorts are made of dazzle fabric. If it's a matte poly, it's probably a lightweight doubleknit. Nike has their own proprietary fabric called DriFit, which is a brand name for polyester wicking knit fabric. You can sometimes find it at FabricMart and Fabric.com. Otherwise you can find it at specialty stores such as RoseCity Textiles amd Seattle Fabrics.(both have online)
