I was wondering how possible it would be to turn this Vogue pattern into a jacket. A further complication would be the addition a an FBA. I would welcome any opinions.
TIA.

This pattern looks a lot like the wrap top I made recently. Do your regular fba (at the bust) then rotate the fullness to the tucks.

I haven't made a jacket in ages. Do you want the design ease of a jacket or just the hand of one? If just the hand, interfacing the pieces as you would a jacket should help.

Good luck with it - it's a lovely pattern!

My measurements = 47-35-43. Height = 5ft11in.
RTW size =18 on top, 14/16 on bottom.
Sewing size = 20 and I alter from there.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I am looking for the design ease, and my thought was to drop the armhole about 1/4 inch. Sandra Betzina's Power Sewing book has some information about that.

You have confirmed my thinking about how to do the fba too. Thanks!

I am hoping to make this like a shirt jacket in a heavier linen blend that has some drape and weightiness to it. We'll see how it goes!

I always have to make a FBA but didn't realize that a wrap front includes adjusting the opposite side (the "tail" of the wrap). It too needs to be be adjusted to accomodate the extra room needed.
When I did my first wrap style top with a FBA, I didn't consider the need to add to the extension of each side that creates the wrap.
Just thought I would mention so you don't make the same mistake I did.

Thanks Sharon Rose!
I'll keep this in mind when I alter the pattern.
