Has anyone ever added zippers to pant legs in order to make convertible pants?

My husband wants some convertible pants but made from the regular fabric and fit of his khakis. He wondered if I could just add some zippers to a pair of pants.

Does anyone know of a tutorial that could help me out? I have an inkling that a pair of pants with a longer hem and some cotton fabric for the zipper backing might be in order.

I saw the topic and thought, "Pants without a top?"

Duh.

I've quit fighting my inner demons. We're on the same side now.

It's just fabric; we can out-think it.
