I am making up McCall's M6436, a loose-fitting women's dress-style shirt. The fabric I'm using is a lovely "linen suiting" that is very slightly sheer. I plan on sewing using french seams, but I was wondering if anyone had a beautiful technique for binding the armscye seams? I do not like sewing french seams for the armscye, so if there is something pretty using a binding technique I'd like to try it!

Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

It's not especially beautiful, but there's a stretch mesh product called Seams Great for binding seams - the results are very neat and free of bulk.

On heirloom garments I have used bias strips of silk charmeuse to bind sheer sleeves. It feels good against the skin too.

I use a modified flat felled stitch. This is a tutorial for the flat felled technique Flat felled
I choose not to have the second stitching sewn to be seen on the right side of the garment. I folded over the longer side of the seam allowance and sewed the fold to the shorter seam allowance. This stitching could not be seen on the right side of the garment. You can see photos of this at this review Modified flat felled
