I've never bought any Burda patterns before. When I look on their site I only see downloadable patterns. Hancock is having a sale next month but I don't know where to look for them online to compile a list of desired patterns.

There are Burda on the Simplicity site. I have a few but have not made anything yet.
I downloaded a couple last year but for me it's too much time to spend just getting the pattern 'made'. However I see lovely Burda garments people make from the downloadables...just not for me right now.

Simplicity.com, patterns link will give you the available patterns for the companies handled through Simplicity, which includes burda paper patterns. You can buy paper and downloadable patterns from their site. What patterns are actually available in stores or from PR seems to vary, though.

I recently tried my first burda pants pattern after having a few of them in stash for a while. I am a convert to the brand now for any pants pattern, since the first pass at fitting is the best I have ever seen. I think the straighter back crotch seam makes a big difference. I still have to do some alterations, but the starting point fitting as well as it does means I have a lot less work to do on the pattern to get a good fit.

Good luck!

I have two downloaded patterns that I got for Craftsy courses. I have yet to do anything with them because the printed patterns had test squares that are supposed to measure exactly to scale to have the pattern work to size. I can't get the test squares to be the right size, whatever browser or printer I use. I haven't figured out the solution to the problem, so I haven't bothered to tape them together. I am highly unlikely to ever download another pattern. What a pain to have to tape the things together and have to deal with the mess when I alter them, and what a waste of paper to print them in the first place!

Patty did you change the settings to "actual size"?

I'll look there. I have no time to print 30 pages, tape them together, trace, cut. Lol! I'm too patient for that!

Oh, I have a couple Burda pants patterns...maybe one of those should be my first Burda made.

Yes, I did have the files set for actual size. I'm not sure what to do, since I've tried the basic stuff. These were downloaded from my browser through google docs, then opened in 2 different pdf viewer programs, sent to 3 different printers. Now that I think of it, all the printers are HP printers. Perhaps the problem is the printer software. Maybe I'll see what happens with my husband's computer, which is connected to a Sharp combination printer-copier-scanner thing.

I'm still not thrilled with having to tape a mess of paper together before I can use it. If there'd been a paper pattern option, I'd have taken it in a heartbeat.

Good luck with your burda adventure. I haven't quite figured out what the right burda size is for me, but I am impressed with the cut and fit of the 2 pants patterns I've cut so far.

i've sewn up B8175. Directions were clear and it came out super cute. The patterns are more user friendly than the magazines.

The JoAnn Fabric Shop in my area carries both the Burda books and patterns. I have tried a couple for toddler girl dresses and they have been great. Easy to use and came out beautifully. If you don't have a JoAnn's in your area, you could try the online store.
