Subject: Isacord thread versus Mettler thread Date: 4/29/13 0:44 AM

Hi, I just recently sold my Bernina embroidery machine and bought the new Bernina 710 that is sewing and quilting and only free hand embroidery. I have probably $300 worth of Isacord embroidery thread and was thinking of selling it. I want to be sure that I am using a good quality thread and have been slowly purchasing spools of Mettler. It has occurred to me that perhaps I could use the isacord thread for my regular sewing and quilting but thought I'd throw the question out to you all to see what you thought.
I have just about every color imaginable and it would sure be nice if I could just use it.

Yes, you can use it. I do it all of the time. Because I have so many colors in the Isacord, when I need to mend something or I'm just throwing something together, I don't hesitate to use the Isacord. It works just find for sewing in any application where polyester thread is appropriate. And it saves a trip to the fabric store.

I use Isacord in my Berninas all the time. It's exceptionally good thread, I don't get any lint at all with it and no breaks.

Using Isacord as serger thread is awesome...it makes a really nice seam.

Thank you everyone for your input. I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you. I have spent the last week reorganizing my sewing room, whew...too much stuff. I am so glad to hear about the Isacord thread. When I get involved in something, I tend to go overboard in preparations. I can't just go and get a few spools od thread, or a couple yards of fabric...no, I have to get 20 spools, or 10 different fabrics. So needless to say I have every color of isacord under the sun. I want to make sure that I am sewing with quality thread in my Bernina and since I have invested so much in thread I am so glad I can use the Isacord for something other than embroidery!!! Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Happy sewing!
