Subject: With dark blue chiffon should I use light or dark bias tape? Date: 4/29/13 7:01 PM

I am making a renaissance style blouse (simplicity 3809) the material I've picked out is very sheer but dark blue in color. The pattern has me putting bias tape for the casing for the elastic around the neckline and sleeves. Which leaves me wondering would I want a darker or lighter bias tape? I don't want the tape to be super apparent...

Heidi, I would make bias strips from your fabric for the least obtrusive method. It's easier than it sounds!

I was thinking about that but I worry the fabric is to sheer, and difficult to press. I also don't think I have enough fabric left but thanks for the suggestion.

You can probably find a blue color bias tape close to your blouse color. Otherwise I would go with a little darker rather than a lighter color.
What about a navy elastic too?
