Help! I'm putting together mccalls 6707, fashion star capris, and am struggling with the instructions for attaching the back piece to the side back (which functions as the tuxedo piece). I'm an advanced beginner and have been working on the same step several nights in a row and scoured the Internet for people who may have had the same issue. Of course, I appear to be the only one. The illustration is confusing and I can't figure out how to get the "L" shape of the side piece to attach with right sides together and notches matching. Can anybody help? Thank you!

Just a thought, without seeing the directions, but you might try stay stitching around the "upper L" on the yoke of the pants, then clipping close to the stitching. Once this is done, pin the leg L portion to the yoke portion. When you get to the "corner" of the L, spread it where you have clipped. This should allow you to work the leg portion around the L.

Thank you so much for the reply. The directions have me stay stitch and clip to the stitch. Where I am having trouble conceptualizing is I lay the L shaped piece (tuxedo piece and top yoke in one) right side facing, directly on top of the right side of the back. If I stitch that together, its the wrong part of the L that is at the top of the piece. In other words, the stay stitched part ends up not in that seam. Does that make sense? I know this is one where a lightbulb has to come on eventually, but its been a couple days!

I think I understand your problem. You need to bend the L shape open and out, basically turning the yoke part out 180 degrees, so that the correct seam lines match up. It's going to look funny because you'll have a big pucker of fabric at the right angle, but once you open it up it'll look fine.

Thank you!! The 180 degrees was what I needed for it to make sense! And now I see the diagram perfectly, of course. Thank you both so much for your help! No nicer people than on PR!
