So determined to make a this Queen quilt it takes 4 Charm packs and 1+ Jelly Roll (it's a you-tube if you don't want to watch it's OK :-) or if you do

Falling Charms You-Tube Tutorial

*edited to say - if you don't watch it -- From my picture imagine all solid White sashing instead of the purple I've done on 2 corners of each "charm" color

So my girlfriend Loves Purple -- She LOVES my Easy Street Quilt - I have "some A & B" blocks left but no way I"m doing another one for anyone!!!

Anyway I have the blocks sashed with Purple Batiks but.... What do you all think?? P)lease be VERY honest before I sew this hot mess together

Thanks for looking and I really appreciate thoughts! This is so far what's on the floor - 12 across and I can't go much further down on the floor (my design walls for Lap size only)

Portland?? Have I lost it??

lol Debbie

Deb, I think maybe you just have the visual of the tutorial with the bright white in your head. The white makes the charms really stand out.

Your is very different, but it is STILL beautiful! The purple is a constant running through the whole thing, ties it all together.

I like it a LOT!

Thanks !! Ok I couldn't sleep more than 5 hours I really like this more and more! Hated it, then liked it, Now I am really seeing the "charms" in mine -- You are so right, after seeing all that stark white (who wants a White quilt??) I was stuck on that.

Good explanation Cat!!! ahhh coffee, wake up more then sewing time

Have a good Sunday all

Thanks for this! I watched the video and keeled over for the pink and white quilt. Love it! And it must be popular because a lot of sources are sold out of the charm packs and jellyrolls.
(I did order mine, though).

You are so welcome! I know I will make this pattern again in other color ways I like how big it is

Next time I will probably use a solid, thought not white -- the print they use in the Video I am sure the Missouri Quilt shop said they were getting more in

ONE thing to note - When buying pre-cuts -- Order from the Same Mfgr for ALL your charms and Jelly roll when making this!

I used 3 Stonehedge (Moda? can't remember) and 1 from Robert Kaufman (or visa versa) and almost 2 Jelly Rolls (24 piece only from who knows where!!! The charm cuts were NOT the same Manufacture to Mfr and the Jelly Roll batick was probably a cheap find at Joann's?? Width varied too much

Block size "should be 7" -- Mine were either 7 or 6 7/8th!!!! Depending on who made the Charm and how fat or skinny that section of the Jelly strip I used. I'll be more careful on my next one for sure --But I love this pattern!

:-Debbie -- Can't wait to see what you come up with L :-)

HD.
I really like the pattern too. It's simple enough that it looks like it will come together pretty fast...did yours?
I'm ready to get started. Hope my fabric gets here soon.
It was a bit of a feat to put together the charms, the jellyroll and the yardage for the sashing. So many sources were sold out. Must be pretty popular.

Thanks for posting about this one. I subscribe, but I missed the falling charms. This is one that can look either traditional or modern, depending!
Also, I love your quilt, and I wouldn't do white either.

I love that purple batik. DD loves purple, and I can honestly tell you that if she were in the intended recipient of this quilt she would be in seventh heaven.

YES this goes together VERY Quick -- That said I mean it's easy to sit and chain piece the Charms to the Jelly Roll the first time -- Then I ironed all

Then just chain piece charms again to other Jelly Roll Strips - I like that you do NOT have to measure and cut, just keep on sewing!!

Then comes the "harder" part -- The layout!!! Here's a great tip I learned on the Quilt Shop forum

Begin your first row of Blocks by thinking L, 7, L, 7

The Next row of blocks will be 7, L, 7, L

Jenny in the Tut called them the "corners" but you can see she kinda futzes around getting the layout - Looking at the blocks as 7, or L helped me a TON!!!

Space to layout a Queen size and look at the color placement - If I did a solid Jelly Roll this probably wouldn't have been so hard, but I tried to distribute the Lights, Med. and Darks so took a photo to help me See -- And yes it is a Queen size so that much room.

Then I marked each row as I picked them up in order Row 1 = 7 , etc...

When I ironed for some reason I think from somewhere I heard iron in opposite? To the Right Row 1, to the Left Row 2 etc.

Last night I got as far as putting 3 total rows together

After messing with the blocks layout, I think the rest will be quick. Hope tonight to get the rest together and get another photo to see what I think

Good luck on yours lgrande! I think this will become one of my favorites!

***Oh Another Tip!**** USE charms from the same Manufacture!!!! I used 3 stonehege and 1 mottled from another company -- Unfortunately my purple batik jelly roll I could SEE as I was sewing they were not all perfect 2 1/2" I got these from Joann's :-( MY tip would be to definitely use all the charms (and if you can) Jelly Roll from the same Mfgr.

Some of my blocks are the 7" but some are coming "shy" of that so while sewing I try to catch it and do a Scant 1/4" on some, normal on others

Hope all this makes sense?? If not let me know lol
