I got my Pfaff Creative Performance about a month ago. I did set it up immediately and got familiar with the threading, decorative stitches, and all of the bells and whistles but did not have time to try out the embroidery (was out of town for a couple of weeks). Yesterday, I pulled out my manual and got started. I am not new to embroidery machines, but this is so different from the one that I had that I did have a bit of a learning curve for editing the design, setting up the hoop, etc. This morning I got up extra early...so excited to do my first stitch out. But....big problem. The machine won't recognize the embroidery unit. I have attached it and reattached it many, many times but every time I try to enter the embroidery stitch-out mode, I get a pop up telling me to attach the unit. I have adjusted the leveling feet every which way and checked to make sure the unit was firmly pushed into the covered socket. I have read and reread the manual and worked on this for hours to no avail. Is there a trick that I am missing or do I have a big problem here? This was my biggest fear...I don't have a local dealer and will have to pay for any labor costs for repairs. Has anyone else experienced this issue and, if so, how was it resolved. I am bummed, to say the least. Thanks.

Look under the embroidery unit and see if there is a red plastic thingy. It's what Pfaff places in the unit to secure it during delivery. If you find one, you will need to take it off.
Also with the machine switched off, give a look in the socket of the machine where you attach the unit to see there aren't tiny pieces of styrofoam floating around in there. (This has happened to some people).
Attach the unit to the machine, you will hear a click when it goes in.
Switch on the machine and you should then hear a small grinding noise and a pop up window will come up on the screen asking you to calibrate the embroidery unit
