While attending PR Weekend in SF, I dropped and broke my camera. I bought a new camera that has more features than I know what to do with! Since Saturday, was such a beautiful day, I decided to leave the sewing room and go outside!

I took my new camera out to try some of the features -- and ended up leaving it set to AUTO for most of the pictures I took. It's time to step away from the sewing machine and update my picture taking skills.

It felt really good to get out of the sewing room!

I recently did the same thing, only my old camera just died.

The different seasons make a great assortment for screen savers. My phlox and tulips for now, then the roses!

I even have one for my husband - yesterday a beautiful white homing pigeon flew into the garage and landed on his car!

me too Patty! I have resorted to scheduling time on my calendar and practicing saying "I can help you on Tuesday as Monday is already organized."

Pretty, pretty, pretty. Especially the chokecherry blossoms. Yes, Saturday was beautiful, wasn't it? What section of the state are you in? The Northeast?

The pics were taken at the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge in Philadelphia. Hard to believe there is a Wildlife Refuge within the city limits.

High capacity memory cards are very, very cheap (I have a 16GB card in my new camera), so practice, practice, practice. If you take a few hundred pictures, and trash upwards 90 percent it's still worth it.

(I'm having fun with an near antique, non metering, non autofocus lens right now. Haven't made any spectacular pics yet, but I'm learning)

Good for you. Recharge your batteries in the beautiful weather and when you are ready, go back to sewing. It could be today, or next week. Enjoy the new hobby for a while. Great pics.

I really enjoy quilting. I love to play with fabrics, colors and pictures. I recently discovered how much fun applique can be. As I love making pictures, landscape quilting can be challenging, but seeing the picture come to life is so rewarding.

Wow! You really captured the natural beauty of the park in your photos! I take a daily walk on a nature path near my home, but I never thought to take my camera with me...maybe I should. :-)
