I'm sure many of you can empathize....

....in having trouble finding bras that fit adequately in RTW. I make do with Hanes 40DD I find at Walmart because they don't fit any worse for $12 than Victoria's Secret fits for a lot more.

I have LeAnn Burgess' book making beautiful bras, but it lacks in some info. I have been contemplating the bra makers manual by beverly johnson, but I just don't know about that much money for another book. Suggestions?

I think bra making is an art an it requited a lot of hardworking. We just need to think about the designs of bras and about the fabrics which we want to use in our making. I think cotton and pollster fabrics are better option for this purpose.

Bra sewing really is quite a lot of fun and not as difficult as it sounds. There are a lot of different supplies you need, but to start, you can actually use parts from and old bra.

Based on your size, I would suggest KwikSew 2374 as a good starting point.

I do have the BraMakers Manual and it's a great book, but there are a lot of tutorials online to get you started, and the kwiksew instructions are fine.

Have fun with it, don't stress....enjoy the process. And if you ever get the opportunity to take a class with Anne St. Claire (or her daughter) jump on it. That class is AWESOME. She has a great pattern also that you can try, Queen Elite. She sells full kits with all the supplies needed. You do have to phone her, but the items I've bought from here were all terrific.

Also check out sales at Herroom and bareneccasities. while you are learning bra making. There are lots of options out there under plus size bras even for my size 44J/K.

My hope is to sew to the very end. They'll find my head slumped over my precious Kenmore 19606 and have to pry the seam ripper from my cold, dead hands.
