I hate scratchy, stiff blue jeans. Who sells some soft denim that is a really deep blue in color? Awhile back I made some jeans with elastic out of a really lightweight, soft denim that I purchased from Joann's but I'd like something heavier to take me into cooler weather. Their heavier seems so stiff and scratchy and I read where some had a chemical smell after washing.

Have you checked Hancocks? Last time I looked they had some heavy stuff.

I'd have to order on line from Hancocks. I don't have one around here.

Send for samples from Mood. I bought some Marc Jacobs denim that washed up really soft.

Mood wants $5 to ship two swatches. Is there a coupon code for free shipping?

Have you tried washing the stuff denim with a can of Coke poured into the wash? I've done it with Coke Zero and it has soften denim. If its really stiff I let it soak in the soda for a while then wash it. I have a top loading washer.

This intrigues me! Why does Coke soften denim?

Probably all the acid in it.

I posted here that a denim had a terrible chemical smell after I washed it. It didn't smell so bad at JoAnn's, but I went back and now that I knew what to look for, I detected a slight odor from the bolt. (my nose is rather sensitive to chemicals as well as other odors and perfumes) For some reason, the washing really amplified the odor.
