The sewing machine case that comes with my used, vintage Husqvarna Viking 21A has the plaid interior fabric lining. It appears that the lining has some old water damage (looks like it must have sat in a puddle of water at some point). I hope the machine wasn't in it at the time!
Does anyone know how I can get these stains out? Drycleaning? Soap and water?
Also, what would be the tell-tale signs of water damage on the machine itself? (i.e. How can I tell if the machine came into contact with water)?

Unfortunately, water stains are usually permanent.
Have you tried sewing with the machine?
Can you open the top or bottom to look at the working parts to see if there is any rust?
I'm not sure how else you would be able to tell if it was submerged or not, unless you took it to a sewing machine shop.
I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine... Most of the pleasure is in getting that last little piece perfect...Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just keep showing up and doing the work.

I second the previous post. Try sewing with it. Look underneath to see if there is any rust, and while you are there, oil all the moving parts.
As far as the waterstains on the fabric. Steam the fabric off and paste on new, if you can't steam it off, just paste new fabric over the old.
