trouble going over intersecting seams

Hi!

I recently purchased the Juki 735 serger/cover stitch machine, and am sewing mostly knits. Everything works perfectly when I am sewing two layers of fabric together, but when I come to two intersecting seams the fabric seams to get a bit stuck and the stitches get really close together. and the seams are pushed out of place and then misaligned and look awful! I have tried EVERYTHING to fix this... is this a problem that someone else has experienced or could this be a problem with the machine? I have tried adjusting tensions, differential feed, stitch length, foot pressure! I know that this machine should be able to handle going over seams smoothly without extra equipment or tools. I would appreciate any insight or tips!!

Thanks!

Are the two s/a (seam allowances) stacked, or do you have them each going in opposite direction, sort of butted up against each other at the main seam line? Trying to serge over two layers of s/a is not pretty, even with wovens. Even with the ITY poly/lycra knits, it can be a challenge. With those, I have to go slowly, raise the presser foot a bit to allow the s/a thickness to get under the presser foot. Sometimes using something like a bamboo skewer to help push it thru, under the presser foot, is necessary. Those poly/lycra knits can be a challenge. Let us know how it goes, and what worked for you.

Someone else recently asked about Serger Seam bulk at cross seams

I think the suggestions will work for you too. I feel sure your machine is fine.
