I found a nice Bernina Activa 130 on CL. It looks like a nice machine, but not much information in the ad. Is this machine worth $200.00? I've never used a Bernina, but if I got the opportunity to give one a try I would like too. Thanks for any information you'd like to share.

Well, that's a fair price for sure especially if its in nice condition w/ feet/manual. You could maybe buy the machine...explore/play at your leisure and easily re-sell it for what you paid if you don't love it. The 130 has no adjustable presser foot pressure which normally is not a big deal and if it is, the walking foot compensates for it. Its a very basic model but you're paying a very basic model price (unlike the first buyer)!

Thanks for the info. I've gotten pretty spoiled with my IDT and I've never used a walking foot. I could live without the adjustable presser foot pressure though. I think I'll give them a call and check it out.
I didn't find any reviews here on this machine so I was unsure what to think.

I think this was the first Activa series. If memory serves, there was a 120, 130, 140? followed by the 125, 135 and 145. I'm thinking its maybe 10-12 years old now... They were surprisingly heavy for a 3/4 size machine!

So it has adjustable pressure? That's good to know. In all the years I've sewn, I learned about this feature here on a thread I started a while back. Great info about it on that thread.
That pic is the same machine as the one for sale as best as I can tell. I really like the stainless steel bed.

Gad - nice price for sure....I don't think it does have adjustable pressure but you will not miss that. OH WOW! That dial....so it does have it! nice.

Ask to sew on it first with fabrics you'll be planning to use. It is a full size machine (vs the 3/4 size activas) and does not have adjustable foot pressure. Disclaimer, those I sewed on were all in a classroom setting or one a customer brought in with an issue this week, I love most Berninas but of all I've sewn on this is one of my least favorites. Even if $200 isn't that much why bother with the hassle of reselling if you can test and decide first?
