I finally found a dealer pretty close to home that has a Babylock Evolution in stock. I asked pricing and they said suggested manufacturer's retail was $4000 but if I had a trade in, any trade in (which I don't) they would charge $2700.

How much do these machines normally run? I'm going there on Friday

Thank you

That's a good price--can't you find a junker serger to trade? Really, I work in a sewing store and that is a great price!

I found the thread on here about the Babylock Evolution. Seems like that is the going price. Hey, in this economy, I'm sure they don't want my sale walking out the door because I don't have a trade in

I want an Evolution in the worst possible way, but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost to myself. I haven't even mentioned it to Mr. Confused yet.

I have the Evolution - it is definitely worth every penny! That is a good price, by the way!
I've owned 2 other sergers that were such a pain to work on. I sold one and gave the other one away.
The Evolution is so user friendly and a dream to work on. Switching to the coverstitch is simple (once you've done it a couple times). I use it all the time and have branched out to try other techniques with it. So much fun!!!
You will not regret it, truly!

2700 is a good one. I posted my review a few years back. At that time my Dealer was offering a range of 2800-3400.
If you can order a brand new Nancy Z one for $250 to trade in if you can't find a thrift or CL one locally.
That's a bit annoying really. No wonder our environment suffers. But on the good side you are supporting people's jobs.

I paid $2700 for my Evolution over a year ago (no extras with it).
And I understand that BL prices have increased substantially since then but cannot confirm that.
Go for the Evolution, you will NEVER regret it.

Just tell the dealer you do not have a trade in and ask if they might have an old one in the back they can use for your trade in. I doubt they will let you walk out the door for lack of a trade : ) Go for that Evolution, you will never look back.

I did it. With tax just over $3000. It came with 8 spools of thread, 6 presser feet, they threw in a waste basket and of course a big binder of all features. Box is still in car. Trying to figure out how to sneak it past the hubby

They took an old machine they had to use for trade in (just like you said).

I can't wait to start sewing with it.
