Has anybody recently purchased at 530 or 550? The dealer I am working with has current prices set at 3499.00 for a 550, and 2879.00 for 530 with BSR. I really think that when I looked at these two machines last year the prices were several hundred less. I know they are frequently on-sale, so, my question is... what price should I hold out for?

Mike,
Recently (about six weeks ago) I purchased a B530 for $2199.
However, it took some heavy negotiating to get that, she didn't want to budge from her everyday price of $2899.
Mine didn't come with BSR but I didn't need it anyway.
There's a big difference in pricing among dealers. In Idaho and WA the everyday price of the 530 is $2199, that's how I was able to get her to come down.

I bought my 530 in December (although it didn't arrive until February). It was during a Bernina Canada sale, $1,997.

Love the carry bag that comes with it, although Ash, B350SE dragonfly, seems to have snagged it for her own.

I paid $2282 for my 530, (normally $2499 at my dealers)because I got it on the $150 off sale, and then got another 5% off for paying cash. Mine did not come with the BSR. Were I you, I would negotiate the price down to one without the BSR, and buy one used online at SIFS. They come up frequently enough there. You could save hundreds that way.

About 6 weeks ago my dealer had 530 for 1999 no bsr. And 3100 for 550 with bsr. I went with 630 instead no bsr.

Have you considered any other brands? Or, different Bernina dealer?

I bought the 550QE last year during a Bernina tax free sale for $2999 out the door. The stores have to figure tax locally so technically, the machine cost $2742. The tax rate is quite high where I made my purchase.
