I was fortunate to come across a Bernina 930. It does not have any accessories or the cords or foot control. It is in very good shape and I had it checked so it does run. I would like to know more about the machine itself if anyone has one.
Thank you so very much!

I have an old 730 which I love (also love my 200) but I would go to this Yahoo group Bernina Thirtysomethings for more info. My suspicion is that it is a good model -- I don't remember any of the older mechanicals that had particular problems. Good luck!

Here is the manual you can download for the 930 bernina.
Manual.
I still have my 930 Bernina set up and running, I purchased it new (would have to dig up the reciept for a date).
It has always sewed beautifully. The manual is kind of a hands on tutorial. When I first purchased it we had lessons on how to use the machine and went pape by page through the manual and then attached a sample to each page of an actual stitch out instead of just using their illustrations. A great way to learn the machine and try it on different fabrics with the recommended technique outlined. This will also let you know what feet came with the machine to begin with. My main sewing machine is the pfaff 7570 but I still use my 930 on many things. I love the button holes on it, it is a 4/5 step button hole but love them and so easy! Makes the most beautiful satin stitch and free motion thread painting!Congrats!!!

I agree to join that Yahoo group. There are so many helpful people there. I have a much simpler, older Bernina 600. It is so smooth!
Those older machines were well made!

I think the 930 is a gem of a machine. I bought mine new nearly 30 years ago and it still just hums along quietly sewing anything and everything perfectly with no adjustments needed. The overall quality of materials used is just excellent, and it has an adjustable basting stitch that I use often and that I miss on my newer Berninas (240 and 630). I do enjoy having some of the features on the newer machines, but I would never give up the 930. You might find a cord, foot control, and/or accessories for the 930 on ebay or SIFS. The Yahoo group might be a good place to ask as well. Hope you enjoy your 930 - it's a classic!

This is the machine I grew up on and my mom still sews on. It just keeps going beautifully! The feet that it takes are considered "old style" but still available since Bernina currently makes a mechanical machine that takes the same feet. I don't know why they changed the way the feet attached, but they did. Other than that, I'll think you'll find this to be a fabulous machine!
