Hi everyone. I am so thankful for this forum full of experts. I lurked around for a long time, but this is my first post. Maybe one day I might get good enough to actually post something worth while. But for now here's my newbie questions.
I adore empire waist dresses because it hides my post babies belly and I could stuff myself comfortably. Haha, it's no wonder why I can't lose this tummy. I never know what size waist I should choose since it changes at least 3-4 inches during the course a day. Anyway, I am a complete novice so it would be wonderful if you could let me know what your favorite easy empire waist dress pattern is. Thank you so much.

Did you see PR's new dress Summer dress. It might not be exactly what you want but Deepika started a sew along for it under "Sew Along" so you could sew along and get some help. It looks easy to make and would hide post baby tummy.

Sew-along seems like a brilliant idea, and it's just the thing that I need. Too bad that I have a major work deadline by early June, otherwise I would definitely participate in this. I will keep an eye out for another sew along in the future when the timing is right. Thanks for the wonderful suggestion.

There are 2 free patterns that I have in my stash (thinking about making at least one for a trip next month). Both have empire waists.

Burda Danielle (review) Take a look at the projects at the Burda site. Quite a variation!

Kimono Sleeve A-line Dress It looks like a yoke in their picture, but the measurements make it more of an empire. Either way it's a cute dress, and only 4 pattern pieces. (The pattern is free, but the instructions are in the magazine)

As I said I haven't made either, so I'm not entirely sure how beginner friendly they are.

Thank you Donna, great patterns! They both look so comfy and cute. The variations of the Danielle dress is amazing! Definitely will download. So much to sew, so little time. I am so envious of expert sewers!
