I made a shirtdress out of white eyelet and want to make a simple pullover cotton full slip for it and also another dress. Just a tank-style top and straight skirt. I have a pile of Burda Magazines from as far back as 2009 and I just don't have it in me at the moment to page through that whole stack. Does anyone, by any remote chance, remember seeing a slip pattern in there? If so, any idea of the issue? Yes, I admit this is complete laziness on my part, but when I do this it takes me hours to go through them because I am so distracted by everything else I want to make! I start looking for something and return to reality hours later sitting in a pile of magazines.
And, by the way, what's the deal with buying slips? Are they nonexistent? I went to the local mall and out of all those stores, found one slip that was a piece of junk. It was stretchy polyester and not at all what I want to wear with a hot-weather eyelet dress.
Thanks!
Melody

I know Kwiksew still has one in print. I use it for me!

I'm looking for a slip like the one on the left. If Burda doesn't have one, I might just send for this anyway. I know it would be really easy to draft one myself, but I love these old patterns:

I will be watching because I want a cami top like the one on the left. I am too old to have my bra straps showing but love some of the semi-shear fabrics out there

That pattern looks really good actualy!

This lady discusses slips, it seems she gets them in Nordstroms (I am not based in the US, so I don't know this shop)

If you come across any other patterns, could you post them?

I'd be tempted to order this Lekala pattern, skip the zipper and add generous side seams, and cut the skirt with a tad more flare. The neck, hem and armhole edges could be finished with bias or lace, or even coverstitch.

It seems butterick 5897 might have the type of wide strapped slip you are looking for:

I love slips. I know it's weirdly old-fashioned, but they make me feel very feminine and dressed up.

I find that even when they aren't holding you in, they do help clothes skim over your figure, if you need that :)

Back in the day I had a slip like the one on the left that included a side zipper. It was marketed as a dress liner. I refined a princess seamed dress pattern as a guide for making 'dress liners' and layering camisoles.

Happy to say one of our local department stores still carries a full array of underpinnings; from traditional to high tech.
