Well I have been "dreaming" of losing weight so I will look & feel better for quite some time. I have been in fear of sewing for myself because of thinking I was going to lose weight, which hasn't happened, and I didn't want to "waste" my "good" fabric!!! I did it!!! I joined WW yesterday and starting today the WW lifestyle way of eating has started!!! Yeah!!! My present goal is to lose 10% of my body weight. Anyone want to chime in and encourage each for the weight loss & life journey with me?????

Good for you! I am still considering which eating plan to go with. Being diabetic, I probably should do Atkins or South Beach. I know you will have many friends here to join in. Best wishes to you and your new style of eating!

congratulations on taking the first step and Good luck on your weight loss journey. I've been traveling that road myself since January 3rd. It can, at times, be hard or frustrating, but it is so worth it.

Southern Stitch...on my first meeting there were several diabetics there. Find the one that is best for you and post here on PR for the support. That is what I need, support and accountability. I am great to start, but usually on the first day I waver because of some food I love......and I love most food. Good luck to you!!!

Congrats to you and welcome to the program! I joined in January and am very pleased with the program and the choices I am able to make on it. I do normally eat pretty healthy but my volume is the problem. I like to be full all the time and so I eat a lot of fruit, but I count every bite that goes into my mouth. I have been thinking of starting a thread like this so I am glad you did! It's great to share!

I am on WW and am pre diabetic. The program fits perfectly with the information I was given by the dietitian in my endocrinologist's office. Atkins would not give you a rounded diet with appropriate carbs at each meal. The point was not to go carbless, but to balance the amount at every meal and snack.
I have the e tools from WW and there is a complete nutrition breakdown for every food including carbs. Weight Watchers is an easy to stay on forever program which is what we need. It also encourages an exercise program which I am doing. I am supposed to exercise 7 days a week and it makes a big difference.

Good luck and you can definitely do it. I am a lifetime member who stopped going to meetings. I am back now and losing weight. I am even managing to lose weight on a medication that inhibits weight loss.
Start exercising too, it really helps not only with weight loss but with how you feel both physically and mentally which helps you stay on program.
I love the e tools which comes with your weekly fee if you sign up for it and pay once a month. I have the app for my phone which means I can journal anywhere.
If you weigh and measure it and count the points you can eat anything if it falls within your daily point allowance. Makes life a whole lot easier to live.

So glad you posted. I joined (rejoined...almost 40 years later ) mid January and have lost a bit more than a third toward my goal (no mean feat, I might add, especially with a 16 y/o in the house).

What works for me is weighing and measuring whenever I can, so that when I can't, like at a wedding, I'm a pretty good judge of points. I don't always track every food I eat, but I ALWAYS TRACK EVERY FOOD I EAT THAT HAS POINTS! That is, I don't always track fruits and veggies, although I do eat them.

Anyway, we are here cheering you on, so , and good for you. Now you have 2 groups, WW and PR, for support!

ETA: I also have been going to the gym several times a week and never use the elevator at work anymore, and I feel so much better. I'm finding out that moving actually eases pain and stiffness, so that's good, too.
