I found the cutest shark fabric at Hancock's today, and thought I might make my boys swimsuits out of it. They like the jammers, which are just like bike shorts. Does anyone know of a pattern for either of these in boy sizes? The closest I could find was a kwik sew boy's pant that I could cut off to make shorts.

Thank you for the link, but what I'm looking for would be the equivalent of boys bike shorts; the tight lycra ones. I could even use a leggings pattern if I could find one in boys sizes. Maybe a girls legging pattern would work!

This is an example of what I want to make.

Try Kwik Sew 3429 and just shorten, they fit tight like you want.
I use the pattern for boy's dance wear.

This is out of print but you might be able to find a copy online (I saw the 8-14 size on etsy)

Kwik Sew 2888/2889 - swim tops and shorts for boys and girls, sizes 4-14.

@Pamel R: Yes, that's the one I figured I'd use if I couldn't find anything else.

@CaraSkates: That's the one I was thinking of! I thought I'd seen something like that before. Glad it wasn't my imagination!

Someone started another thread and noted that Jalie just released a bike jersey/shorts pattern for download. I'm probably going to buy it, since the shorts would work for swimsuits, and I cycle so I could use a jersey pattern.

Thank you all for the help! PR peeps are the best!

I thought you might be interested to see Bloom's blog post about making a similar garment.

Thanks Kathleen! I enjoyed knowing I'm not the only mom who thinks $30-$40 is too much for a scrap of spandex and a drawstring. I ordered the bike shorts pattern. It's seamless on the outside, but that will actually help me to draft a colorblock for it. I like those too.
