When I am having a problem like that, I start from the beginning. I take the bobbin case out and clean that area. Then I put in a new needle and rethread everything. Make sure that you are using good thread; I use Coats & Clarks. I don't know much about these older Janomes. I have a 6600 that I bought last year. It is touchy about its bobbin. It likes a nicely wound bobbin and prefers the Janome brand of bobbins (which Hancock's is now selling). Other bobbins are suppose to be compatible but my sm seems to know the difference and complains by jamming up. Was it sewing ok after you got it tuned up?
Oh and Welcome! I see you are a new member.
