What do you usually use for topstitching on denim: a jeans/denim needle or a topstitching needle?

It seems to me that the topstitching needle's large eye is necessary to accommodate the size of the thread, but is it sturdy enough to perform well on denim?

I just use a new denim needle.

I just replace a zipper in a pair of jeans and the Denim needle did a great job with the entire process, including top stitching.

Test the stitching on a mock-up of the same number of layers of denim as for your project. This will help you with the stitch length adjustment.

If I'm using a thicker thread in the needle like upholstery, then I'll use a topstitching needle. If it's regular polyester, even if it's a double thread of poly in the needle, then I probably wouldn't switch out my denim for a topstitching needle.

Measurements: 34 HB/36 FB (34C bra)/27.5/36 (and working hard to keep it that way.)
Machines: Sewing: Elna 760, vintage Kenmore Model 33 (1967), Janome Gem Gold 3, Singer Model 99, Singer 221/Featherweight. Sergers: Babylock Imagine and Babylock Enlighten. Embroidery Only: Janome 300E. Embroidery/Sewing Combo: Brother Dream machine. Coverstitch: Babylock BLCS. Straight Stitch: Janome 1600P.
