Hey guys -

I picked this machine today because it was cheap, I was there and, I sorta wanted a small machine to sit outside with - or something for a ZZ every now and then.

There is a small problem with the feed... It wants to veer off to the left. In other words, I cant sew a straight seam. The stitches and other things seem fine ... but, the feeding swerves.

Any tips?

O.K...I don't know but off the top of my head I'd say look under there - take off needle plate and see if the feed dog assembly is loose? I think there are tiny screws somewhere. I am SURE someone else will know more. Good luck! :)

I was able to understand the cleaning instructions and after a nice oil and some warming up - everything works just fine!

I like the nice stitches. I have to confess I can never get the grand quilters stitches just so -- Im prepared to take responsibility for it. Ive never asked for service help - and maybe it needs a tune up? -- But this old machine just stitched straight stitches no fussing.

I liked that - I hope that we can get some nice weather here in Maine and I can take this machine out on the stoop!

I have a Singer Spartan hand crank and a Singer 201 hand crank that I love to take out on the back stoop in nice weather. My little dog Emma is starting to go into kidney failure, so I am spending as much time with her as possible. Luckily, I am retired. She loves to have me go outside with her. The Spartan is small--the size of a 99--but it is heavy. Looks can be deceiving. It's so relaxing to stitch outside.

It sounds lovely to be able to spend time with an old friend out on the back stoop.

My George is not too old - but his hips were never too good. He likes short walks and lots of laying in the sun. I hope to make lots of quiet time this summer for George and I, also.

This machine is also pretty heavy. Im glad you made the hand crank comment - I had wondered what use one would be - and, now I think I get it!

Hand cranks are good for piecing blocks. I wouldn't want to quilt a whole quilt with one, though I'm sure it has been done.
