Hi guys, does anyone know where to get silk satin at less than 20 euros a meter online in the UK or Ireland? I am looking for it to make a slip ( I have no urgent need for a slip, but I've always wanted a silk one!) I have looked in Dublin, and it's 25 euros a meter and up, which is a bit more than I was hoping to spend. The most reasonable I've come across is here, cheapfabrics.co.uk

As well, I am looking for a fairly slippy weave. Can anyone summerise the difference between habotai, charmeuse, crepe-de-chine? I keep looking them up, but I get confused!

The cheapest I know are the shops on Goldhawk Road, they're between 8-10 a meter for solid colour silk satins. Give Classic Textiles a ring and see if they'll consider shipping it to you: 0208 743 3516

Otherwise, have a look at Truro Fabrics and Stone Fabrics online. I was just looking at silk satins the other night, but concentrating more on prints and less on price since I only needed a meter.

Thanks Squirrilly! Those seem to be much the same price as I had found already, though the choice is good! Some day, I will get to Goldhawk road... Thanks for the advice, I was trying to think if there were any other online shops I had missed. OK, Truro fabrics seem to be around the same price as the ones I have seen, Stone fabric is slightly cheaper, but the selection of all the fabrics seems really good, I think I'll be looking around for a while!
