OK here's the deal. I don't need another machine by any stretch. I've got an old Kenmore that was my mom's, a Brother 6600, a Bernina 830 Record, an old Brother serger, a White serger, and a Janome Coverpro. I can't set up everything I've got all in one place at one time (well, I could. Need to get organized) I've been offered a Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 with loads of extras at a really REALLY great price. On one hand I sure don't NEED it. On the other hand I could get it, and see if I like it better than the Bernina and sell one. What to do, what to do??

And re-reading this I seem to have NO brand loyalty :-)

The Designer I is a GREAT machine. Do we know how old this one is? Does it take floppies? There might be a learning curve w/ the embroidery part but if this is a friend, maybe you could get help that way. Even if you didn't use the embroidery function, it is a LOADED machine with ALL the great features you could ever want. If in great shape, low miles, etc, i'd say go for it. It is enough different from your other machines that you'd not be duplicating what you already have and you'll get to enjoy the hover feature, auto thread-cutter, all those fabulous stitches and the embroidery is as good as it gets.

With me it's as easy as flipping a coin. If I think I really can't decide on something, after I go back and forth, back and forth... I flip a coin (or ask for opinions!) If I'm really excited or disappointed at the coin flip (or opinion!) I know what I really want to do. Works most of the time
Now it's time to get my sewing room (10 X 20 portable building) cleaned out, set up and organized so I can get all the crew out at once!
