Hi folks, moving to MD in a couple of weeks. Anyone here familiar with the ASG groups that meet at G Street? (Or, at least they are listed on the MD ASG site as meeting there!)

Currently I am active in two Charlottesville (VA) NGs, one general interest, and one clothing construction oriented. Was curious as to whether the MD groups were broken down into special interest groups too. Karen

You are a member of ASG so go to the National website, www.asg.org and log in to the Members Only Log In on the Home page. Once you log in, there you'll see an option called "Chapter Newsletters." Click on that and scroll down the page until you come to the only ASG Chapters in MD. Click on "Nimble Thimble", the name of the Chapter newsletter, and go to pgs. 4 through 7 to view all the NG's and what they're doing. It was posted 5/26/13 so the information is current.

ASG just set up individual member log in last week. You need your email address now to log in and the password that ASG sent to you. Contact HQ if you didn't get it.
I hope someone from G street responds to you here. Its always nice to feel welcomed when resettling.

The email message about the new log-in that was sent out on 5/26/13 gives specific instructions for how to log in. If you've never used the new database (accessed by Presidents, Membership Chair, Newsletter Editor), then you will probably use the second option for log-in. Be sure to type the initial password exactly as it's listed in the email. Then, you should be prompted to establish you own, distinct password. From then on, log in to the Members Log in using your email address and personal password. If all else fails, call one of the phone numbers listed in your "Notions" magazine for assistance.

Thanks Judy -- perhaps I had a case sensitive issue with the password they provided. Will try it again later. Karen

I belong to both of the groups that meet at G Street. The Morning Pinups is a general interest group that meets at 10:30 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month. The Sew Whats I'm less familiar with as I don't go very often, and they meet on the third or fourth Sunday each month. Yes, the newsletter posted in May is the most current for the chapter.

Does the MD ASG have a NG suitable for a garment sewist who works M-F? In other words, it meets in the evenings or weekends.

And is ASG a place to find a fitting buddy?

Thanks!

May I ask where the Charlottesville groups meet? Are they affiliated with the Roanoke chapter or the NV?

Sorry -- just noticed this question. There are two groups in Cville -- a general interest group that meets the first Saturday of the month at 10:30 AM, and the clothing oriented group which meets the third Monday of the month except during the summer. Both groups meet in the classroom in the back of the JoAnn's store in the Rio Hill shopping strip on Rt. 29. The Cville groups are part of the Richmond chapter. HTH, Karen
