I'm hovering in the pattern size 20-22 right now and have been putting off making or buying anything for myself because I have so much sewing to do for customers. Now I'm in a big bind. I'm transitioning from working a full-time job and then working on my sewing business after that to working part time so I can spend more time on the business.
After months of no action, I have 2 interviews scheduled for next week and nothing to wear. One of them pretty much requires a dress. (A friend works there and says that's what the woman in the position now wears most of the time. She said very specifically not to wear pants.)
What is the quickest, most fuss-free dress you've ever sewn? And it has to be office appropriate.
Thanks for the input. I know you all will have great ideas for me!
Thanks, but I have always found wrap dresses to be a fitting nightmare for me. There is always something wrong about the angle of the front. I don't have time for a muslin. I've got to put this together at top speed. I will check the reviews on these two, though.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and buy RTW. Think of it as an investment?

I would make a simple sheath-type dress and wear a jacket over it. Something like Dress would be a good option. Use the optional front and back vertical darts for a good fit. It wouldn't take long to make - I've got a similar pattern (OOP) that I can put together quickly.
