I'm making the pattern pieces for a wedding dress I've started.
The two sides of the bust come down in a V and overlap under the bust with a straight waistband right beneath. I've closed the darts to create one big horizontal dart. Where the bust section is lengthened to cross over the other side I've put three slash lines in for gathers.
How do I add the gathers without creating another seam where the gathers fade out? And can I take the dart off the actual pattern shape so I don't physically see a dart in the bust? Will this work?
Thanks for reading. Hope someone can help me

I'm a visual person, so I'm not quite sure how to picture what you have done and what you are asking. Can you post some pictures?

I found the page linked from this thread to be really helpful in teaching me how to move and change darts to gathers and other things.

If you are asking can the seam to the waist band substitute for the dart seam the answer is yes if it is close enough to the bust as in an empire seam.
