I just got an e-mail that there are thread cabinets on sale online only at JoAnn's for $99. Does anyone own it? How do you like it? That is a little pricey for me but it would be nice to get my threads together in one spot & out of kitty cat reach! Thank you for the info.

I had one for a charity sewing group. Here are a few observations, which led me to replace it:

- it's not very stable standing on its own. It should be mounted.
- if you put in a pool and it gets pushed up further in the slot, you might not see the spool. Yes, it is nice that it will hold more mor than one spool.
- No room for growing a color group, so you'll have to decide where to put that addition
- Will ONLY fit Gutterman. One of my volunteers put a Mettler spool in and it was jammed.

I replaced it with this clear case. I love these cases. The also fit Coats & Clark's spools; all spools peacefully co-exist.

I love mine! It's nice to know that I most likely have the color I need without having to go to the store.

I hang mine with a single, over-the-door vinyl covered hook. (not plastic). They are pretty weighty. I stocked up on extra spools of most colors when on sale....will hold 3 spools each, I think.

Thank you for the responses. DH thinks this is expensive for holding thread. Hmmmm......

I use a craft cart with several drawers for storing machine embroidery threads and stabilizer. You could do the same for sewing thread.

I lay the spools on their sides, organized by color. One drawer could be for specialty threads.

I think your husband is correct in thinking this is way too much money for storing thread.

I have an Ikea Helmer cabinet. It was less than 100 dollars even with shipping, bec. I don't live near an Ikea store. Love it, 6 drawers, sort by color/type, wheels around. Holds a lot. Just the right size drawers. Will probably get another.

Wanted to add - the Helmer cabinets close better than the plastic ones - that is, drawers let less dust in...

Dust seeping into the drawers? Maybe in the Gobi desert.
