I've been buying this really nice fabric from a girl that is moving and doesn't want to move it all. I need a simple jacket or blazer pattern. Can be winter or summer as bought both types of fabrics. Would like slacks to match, but even years ago when I sewed I never sewed slacks. I just don't wear skirts much as unable to work. Have plenty of blazers so can be traditional or non-traditional. Wear lots of leggings in the winter as petite so like unusual jackets to go over. Nothing with a lot of bulk as don't weigh a lot either .Don't want to start out with something lined. There is a place in town you can take a class once a month, but tend to get sick at wrong times. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

KwikSew offers a nice range of jacket styles and their instructions are very, very good. The only thing I would be careful of is their generous sizing. I usually drop down 1/2 size by tracing between two of the size lines; to make their patterns work better for petite sizing, you can slash the traced pattern horizontally at mid-armhole (front and back) and overlap the pieces by 1/4-3/8". Do the same on the traced sleeve pattern at about the same level, so the sleeve will fit into the altered bodice. (I'm making it sound complicated, but it's super-simple.) KS patterns are on sale right now for $6.99 and they're a really good learning tool. KwikSew Jackets

If you decide to tackle pants, I'd recommend one of the Jalie patterns. They offer many sizes in one envelope, and I have found their fit to be excellent. Fit is the only difficult thing about sewing pants, and Jalie has done the work for you. Jalie pants I just ordered 3243 because I want my Jalie pants pattern collection to be as complete as possible. They are that good.

Another good pattern line is Loes Hinse Design. The jackets are unstructured (no interfacing or lining), but quite versatile and comfortable. They're simple to put together, but need soft drapey fabrics to look their best.

I just this weekend bought S2209 and S1621. Both have really cute jackets with no lining. On 1621, it warns that the reverse of the fabric can be seen.

I have also made S2183, which technically is lined, but not like a traditional jacket lining. MUCH easier. It's sort of between a traditional blazer and a bolero in length/fit.

For a really simple one, this one by Rhonda Buss is just based on a circle.
