I understand that a few Kenmore models were actually made by Janome. How can you tell? Specifically, Kenmore 17324 or 15343?

All the Kenmore sewing machines that start with model 385. digits are made by Janome,as in Kenmore 385.17620.Most people call that model a Kenmore 17620 when they talk about that model.

Kenmore model 385.17324 was made by Janome.Kenmore model 385.15343 was made by Janome too.

Are Kenmore sewing machines still made? I never see them at Sears anymore.

According to this article Sears/KMart is getting or has gotten out of the sewing machine business.

The video is interesting.

Sears no longer has their own brand of sewing machines but many of the discontinued Kenmore models have been re-issued as Janome models.

I have a Kenmore 16221 and 18221. It's really the same machine with a different color scheme. I paid $149 for the 18221 and $50 for the 16221. Janome has now painted it pink and charges over $300 for the same machine.

That's very helpful information, TeeGee! Now if only Sears Canada would list the model numbers on their website, not just item numbers!

(Yes, Sears in Canada does still sell Kenmore sewing machines -- I hope they always will, but who knows.)

I wonder where they ship to ? Does Canada still have them in the stores themselves? I miss seeing them...

Joan, our local Sears store only had two very cheap looking sewing machines and one more expensive one on display last time I visited the store a couple or more months ago.I didn't check the model numbers.I will look at the model numbers next time I'm near Sears again.I read somewhere new Sears Kenmore sewing machines are not made by Janome anymore.Sears online sewing machines look like made by Janome to me,or not ? Yes, some machines are still in the stores themselves. I don't know if they would ship to the U.S., but the cost of shipping could get a bit crazy. You'd probably be better to just buy a Janome.
