I have your blog in my feed and enjoy it immensely.

I've tried to leave a comment several times and for some reason, it doesn't "take". It may be by design but I just couldn't keep reading without saying somewhere what a great writer you are.

Mary, this is such a great blog. Thanks for the link and good go'in Sarah.

Question, since miraculously I've never been to the cemetery for a non-Jewish funeral. Do Catholics throw dirt on the coffin? That always does something wrenching and real for me at Jewish funerals. BTW good Shabbos.

PS I want to be cremated, but how to manage that throwing dirt on the coffin?

We buried the urn my mother's ashes are in. Can you throw dirt on that?

There's a thought- thanks! Maybe 1/2 and 1/2 in the ground and the rest who knows?

As for cremation and dirt on the coffin.

Cremation is against Jewish law but what people decide to do is their own business.

Not long ago I attended a funeral of the mother of a friend and she had been cremated. It was a graveside service and most of us were puzzled by the really small hole. We did shovel dirt on the small box.

My kids are indeed a gas. I have loved sharing a home with them.

I'm not sure why mine vaporize. I'm not posting with my business URL but just with my Google account.

I only mentioned it as I'd want to know if people were having problems leaving me comments on my blog. I know it always feels so good to know I'm not talking to the air!

I love your sewing content (of course) but am also fascinated by your posts on all things Jewish.
