Okay, so now I'm hooked on Craftsy classes. I don't own a laptop (don't like the keyboards) but I'm finding it difficult to run between floors watching a class and doing the work (sewing room on another floor from computer) I have WiFi (DH has an iPad), and I'd like to know what is a basic tablet to buy? I don't want to type on one, don't want a lot of whistles and bells, but want one that I can watch my Craftsy classes.

Can you suggest one for me?

I'm no pro in this field, so take with a grain of salt, please. Check out Android tablets. They are much cheaper than the Apple in most cases, you can add memory with a micro-SD card which you can't with an Apple, and there are plenty of apps. I'd get a 10 or 10.5" version to watch videos on. Get the most recent version of Android that is available, because chances are it will not be updated in the future. I have an Acer Iconia, which came with a full-size USB port, which is very handy but quite unusual in tablets. You could plug a full-size keyboard into it if you wanted. I use it for file transfers from the computer via memory stick.

You can also watch them on a Kindle.

Since your husband has one, get a used iPad. Get a retina display one (third generation), and your eyes will thank you for it. eBay probably has scads of them.

I recommend Ipad too. The display is fabulous!! My DH has a kindle, and there just aren't enough apps on it to satisfy him. And, I find it just a tad bit clunky of an interface, but I'm used to mine. He rarely uses it.
I have an Iphone too, and what I love is that all my stuff automatically saves to each device.
It's true though that the cool thing about Android is the price, and the fact that you can add storage capability. I got the 32 MB Ipad, and I'm so glad I did. Wish I'd gotten the 64!

I think I need to clarify. I don't want anything with phone capabilities, nor do I want a phone. This is simply to watch videos; nothing to store, either.

The retina display..can you explain that feature? I have eye problems so that caught my eye (pun intended)

The retina display is a high-resolution display, and with aging eyes it makes a world of difference in how easy it is to read and how long you can use the tablet.

If you have a Best Buy or an Apple store nearby, I suggest you go and compare one of the new ones to the iPad mini, which doesn't have the retina display. Or they may possibly have an Android tablet at the Best Buy, and you can look at them both.

ETA: It's my eyes that are aging!

I bought a second hand ipad for that same reason. The first thing I noticed was how much I wished I had a camera in it. It seems that when I am in my sewing room I find it handy to be able to take pictures of everything from fabric to stitches. I refer to these often even if I erase them at the end of a project. I do have a camera but to see them on a larger screen is helpful.
Recently I won an ipad mini so use that in my sewing room for the simple reason that it has the camera.
I am not sure if you have eye problems if you would want to go to a screen as small at the mini or kindle.

I have both: iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Since getting the iPad, I have not used the Tab even once. The user interface and speed of all functions far exceeds those of the Tab.

In fact, the iPad impressed me so much that I switched from a Windows PC to a Mac Mini...and haven't looked back.
