Hello. I just bought an embroidery machine - babylock ellure plus so I am brand spanking new when it comes to embroidery. I have a question about hoops. The machine I bought it came with a large and extra large hoop but now I want to purchase a medium and small. I am looking online at a site called sewvacdirect and notice that there are some that say "sew tech replacement hoops" which seem to be a lot cheaper than the "brother brand". Does anyone know why this is? Because they look the same in the pictures, is there a difference? Please help, I don't understand...

I just saw your machine in person at a dealer today. I wished I could afford it, but it looked very similar in functionality to my Brother PE 700II, with the exception that yours is also a sewing plus embroidery machine. As for the hoop sizes, I may also want to eventually get a smaller hoop as well. From what I've read online regarding the Brother brand vs. non-Brother brands, most people seemed to be happier purchasing the Brother brand for their Brother machines. However, I would suggest you contact the online store's customer service and see what they say. Or, if there are reviews about the non-Brother brand, I would also take a look at those.

If you have an Ellure Plus, buy the Baby Lock brand hoops. There can be weight differences and inconsistencies in how the inner and outer hoops "nest" with the after market brands. You invested a good amount of money in your machine so be sure to invest in good tools (thread, stabilizer, etc.) and accessories as well.

I second these comments. I have an Ellegante, which I love. But one trip to the shop and a ruined piece of embroidery was because...I had marked my bobbin with nail polish to distinguish it from the bobbins for a different machine. Just that little thing was enough to mess up the computerized machinery. Just because a hoop will "fit" in your machine does not mean that it will match all the weight and other specs of the Babylock ones. These are wonderful machines, but they are picky.
