I thought you guys might enjoy seeing my latest finish--a 16th century blackwork pocket I made for a friend. Y'all helped me out with the construction probably more than you realize, but I'm putting a special shout-out to wendyrb who gave brilliant bias tape advice in this thread, which (no joke) has changed my binding life forever.

It's all hand-stitched in silk on linen, with gilt spangles (sequins), backed and bound in velveteen. I have lots more information (such as, what I mean by a "pocket") and photos on my website, but if you want to skip all of that and just go to the giant, zoomable close-up photo (you can really see how beautifully the binding turned out!!), click here

Thanks for looking!

I am VERY impressed. Creating just a small sample for my dressmaking course of embroidery stitches took forever in my mind and I just dont have the patience for a large scale project.

Those stitches are really neat and regular!

Wow! I can't believe those are hand-stitches, they are so perfect! It's a shame that those go under the paniers and skirts :)
