I've been blogging for a while, but decided to change my blog format to one with a main page, and tabs across the top. I've also changed the name so it's entirely new. I'm transferring all of my old content over and streamlining the posts so each of the projects is one post, not spread out over days and days.

There aren't too many posts to start, I just wanted another set of eyes to make sure I'm headed in the right direction.

Here's what I would like to know, do you find it easy to read, and is it easy to navigate?

I've been working on it so long I can't tell anymore.

Here it is Bias-Architect

Thanks everyone!

I like it. It looks professional and informative. It is inviting.

Pros:
The title is terrific and the title box is nice.
The page is easy on the eyes.
The colors are soothing, allowing a seamless movement from left to right.
I like the idea of separate pages.

Cons:
The description is too wordy IMHO. Remove "is about" and "you will see" and "enjoy".
Center the pages labels under the box.
Use cursive more sparingly.

It is really nice loti!!! Oh yeah, my husband says no one should use this many exclamation points! What does he know?! Technical editor and professor be damned!

I am now following your new blog.

What!!! no exclamation points!! Ok, I'll go easy on those, I finalized the main page at 5am (couldn't sleep, but I was very enthusiastic/punchy).

I will work on centering the tabs, it's proving to be not as user friendly as I would have liked, but there must be a way to do this.

Right now it will only allow me to use one font for all of the text portion, which means cursive would have to go away altogether, again, delving into the advanced settings.

Thank you for your feedback. I know what I'll be doing tonight.

Thank you for following!

DISCLAIMER: I don't know much about web design etc., just what I learn by trial and error pocking around Blogger.

Ok, I like the colors but the script font is a bit hard to read. Any way you could keep that for headings, say, and stick with a san serif for the body of the texts?

Does the black just pop more against the white background or is it in bold? Because then you sill have trouble emboldening words within the posts.

Are you planning to have a tab with information about you? I was a bit surprised that the ones that said "Bias" and "Informative" just lead to specific posts. You need a mission statement or short bio, I think.

And you need tags, if only the pattern names (V1236, M5525), fabric weave/fiber (silk, wool, cotton, twill, dévoré) and/or garment type (blouse, trousers, trench coat). That will help readers explore your blog and heighten your visibility online via search engines and the like.

How do you feel about widgets? My favorites:
- I love LINKWITHIN (you can see it on my blog) because it is a cool way to link via thumbnail images to older posts.
- And if you plan to do a lot of tutorials, there is a widget for turning posts into PDFs. I have to look it up online. I have a feeling it was on the other laptop, RIP;
- Giving the possibility to like or something on FB or elsewhere is cool too! I'm pretty sure that is provided by Blogger somewhere in the presentation section of your dashboard.
- Finally, following via email is really cool and convenient too, for those who do not have bloglovin'. Feedburner is on death row, though, so maybe watch out for another free one? MailChimp seems to have a free version.

Sorry there are no links but my internet is feeling colicky, as usual when I am at home.

OK, now I feel like I should update my blogs, LOL! Good luck!

I'm still learning about the code, but I think the black on the home page is better now. I hadn't bolded the type the first time around and you are right it was heavy looking, but it wouldn't revert back.

You have given me a lot to think about, so I'll look around and see what info I get find. According to the blogger website, I can only have one label associated per post, because that's how the content ties into the tabs across the top, but there should be another way to add labels. I'll do some tests tonight and see if I can get around it.

Thank you for the feedback! Ooops there goes another exclamation lol.

I was going to add a tutorials tab, I'll have to see what I have on the old blog first, I've only transferred 10 out of 903 posts.

Is there an easy way for people to access your most recent post? If everything is on different tabs, would someone who just checked your blog from time to time know where to go to see what you had written?

From what I could see they can only do that through the Blog Archive gadget. But if they don't know to do that, they will look at your front page and think you haven't added anything since their last visit.

That is a good point, I know that if you are on bloglovin, it updates the feed based on your last post (it ignores tabs). If you subscribe to them, you would see all of the posts as they are published. If you are going to the main page it is static, so it doesn't update.

The tabs might be a better format for a retail blog. Too early to tell, but I'll look into it and see if one of the widgets lakaribane had mentioned would address this.

Thank you.

I like it, and I think very easy on the eyes visually. Because of all your real nice use of white space there. I think even your cursive font is easy to read too, just since you have everything laid out so very nice.

Thank you beauturbo, I'm trying to make the changes that everyone is suggesting. I still can't get the search function to work and have put the question to the google guru's.

lakaribane - Thank you for suggesting the linkedwithin tool. I think I have that up and running.

Pros:
*Easy on the eyes
*The background color is soft
*The main page doesn't have too many hard lines
*Name box is nice: double lines are soft on the eyese
*Name itself is nice
*Font colors are easy on the eyes
*Like the link layouts at the top
*and Oh! That drawing!!!! Cool!

Cons:
*The italic type font in the Archive lists. I think people want a sans serif type of font because it makes it easier to scan.
*Ibid with the Who am I link. I know, it's pretty and you want to portray yourself as a blogger who is approachable through her words.
*Center justification on Who am I link makes it hard to read. Sometimes I see one word in the middle of the page and it's left over from the previous sentence.
*The Bookmark Worthy and Creative Geniuses lists appear to be too long for me.

Suggestion: Can you put in a ''Back to Top'' box/link to make it more navigable?

I'm not a big fan of Courier type, (''you can access the content...'') but that's just me. Maybe someone can suggest another, or you might have something else in mind?

It's a beautiful site! You really did a lot of work on this, and it shows.
