I have found a babylock esante BLN used for $1500.it is two years old with five hoops, all manuals, recently serviced. I have never had an embroidery machine so I don't know if this is a good price.

I had an Esante for about 2 months before I upgraded to the Ellisimo. I think it's a great machine. I believe I paid about $2200 for it brand new. I think $1500 is just a tad high for a used model given the fact I've seen Ellageo Plus and Ellegante machines go for around $1800-2200 used.

If this is something off of Craigslist or a private sale, I'd see if you can get the seller down to about $1200. I think that would be a great and fair price for the machine. $1500 isn't astronomically high and it sounds like there are some extra hoops included that did not come with the machine, so you can take that into consideration. But I would see if you can get it for slightly less.

I also think since you've never had an embroidery machine, this is a good intro combo sewing/embroidery machine. It takes a 6 x 10 hoop which is a nice big size. It doesn't have the USB slot for the USB stick drives, but you can direct connect to your computer to download designs. I didn't have a problem with that and just bought a really long USB cord on Amazon for about $7.

Let us know if you end up buying it!

Jim

Thanks for the info. I am going to see it on Wednesday.

I am also looking at a Janome 350 for $500 or a bernina 180e for $975. Any advice on either of these? I have never had an embroidery machine. I do own a sewing machine and a serger.
