I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone - I'd like to make some dresses for my daughter and I want to learn how to make button plackets.
She has a couple RTW dresses with 3-5 buttons up the center back. I though if I could find a similar pattern I could practice my buttons on something wearable, but not too important. Any suggestions?
BTW - I need a pattern with instructions, not BWOF or the like

Heirloom patterns almost always use this type of closure. Try patterns from "Children's Corner", Martha Pullen, and others. Google "heirloom sewing patterns". Picking up a copy of Sew Beautiful magazine at the local chain will give you many heirloom pattern makers.

Try Oliver + S patterns. I have the Family Reunion Dress and the Music Box Jumper and both button up the back. Also, their instructions are marvelous and the results are always nice.
