I just tried to order a McCalls & a Kwik Sew. Past orders (BMV only) were about $4 for shipping for up to 3-4 patterns to Canada. I put one McCalls and one Kwik Sew in the bag and shipping was $9.95!!

Has their shipping doubled? Or is it extra shipping for Kwik Sew??

I looked at my last five orders. For one - three patterns the shipping has been about $4, over that many it seems to be about $8. that's domestic (continental US)

My one recent order that included a KS pattern was a bit more expensive to ship.

US postal rates to Canada changed in January and in some cases it is double or close to it.

We were just in the US for holidays and always send postcards to the grandkids -- something they look forward to whenever we say we are going away.

September 2012 we paid about $0.80 to mail a postcard -- June 2013 the rate is $1.10 for a postcard to Canada.

Am about to order crystals so will find out how much that has increased as my supplier ships USPS.

Same experience here, shipping to CA. The shipping cost seems to jump much higher when you get more than three patterns.

My issue was with 2 patterns the price jumped to $9.95 for shipping! Last time I ordered in the spring, 4 regular patterns was $4 shipping.

Sue when I place an order for several the shipping isn't too bad when you consider the savings and also not paying the tax.

However, when I order one or two the shipping costs are waaay too high so I now just wait until I have an order for at least 6 which seems to me to be all the time - well almost

That isn't what is stated on their website for shipping charges!

1-3 patterns is $4 and 4-7 patterns is $8 (I guess that is US dollars). Still, it sounds like they charged you as if you ordered 4 patterns, not 2. I would definitely contact them about it.

shipping information

Edited to add: I've had combined orders before - Vogue and Kwik Sew patterns in the same order for instance - and it didn't change the shipping prices at all. They are the same across the site.

US postal rates are irrelevant, as BMV patterns ship from Whitby, Ontario for Canadian orders. I've never ordered just two patterns, so have found shipping to be reasonable, if a bit slow. I live in Toronto, and from ordering to receiving, it typically takes two weeks. I'm only about 40km from Whitby!

Last time I bought at BMV the shipping was almost 50% of the cost of the patterns. I am not rejoining BMV, I willsave my 9.99 for 10 patterns at Hobby lobby or JOanne next time they go on sale. Yes, I have to drive to the store and pay tax, but taxes aren't up to 50% of the cost of the item....yet.
