I ordered a medium "Family Sew" dress form from a dealer. I received a small "Artistic" instead. When I called the dealer not only did he not really care they sent me the wrong size and brand, he advised me the new one they were sending was also an "Artistic" which is made for Janome. He also stated the Family Sew is made by the same manufacturer, "Artistic" and is the same identical dress form. SO, I'll ask the people I trust….my buddies @ Pattern Review!! Are they one in the same or is the Family Sew a better form and he's playing dirty…..

BTW: When I ordered I asked specifically him about the Family Sew brand vs. Singer &Dritz and was told the F.S. was a better form. Why did he not tell me it was an "artistic" then??? Thanks ya'll

I would like to think this dealer is telling the truth. But I've been a victim of bait and switch before, so I'm skeptical. For one thing, you received a different size. To me, it doesn't matter whether or not they are made by the same manufacturer, or in the same country, etc.; you asked for something and you got something else.

Subject: Dress forms from Family Sews/Artistic the same one? Date: 7/3/13 4:40 PM

Just a quick look at those two links above...looks as though one has 10 adjustments, the other has 12. But that may just be a difference in the way they are described. Maybe the one with 12 is counting the height adjustment and the hemming attachment.

I pay no attention to text. I do pay attention to pixels in images though. I see same images called and sold by both names, and named both, all over the internet. Some of multiple images, have had the resolution dropped, some have been cropped, but if you run a bunch of them through the Tin Eye image browser, it can still compare pixel to pixel, on an image, even if those things have been done to it. So I think the same, and people whom sell stuff over the internet, are just often lazy in sticking graphics into their websites, and will just borrow from other sources instead or use one provided for them, rather than even take their own photos. So I think they are the same.

If you need one size though, and you got another, I think you still have a sewing issue/problem though.

Thank you for your input! Sew & Vac Direct sent me another "Artistic" dress form in the right size, a medium. They still haven't e-mailed me a return address label nor a pick up from FedX despite my second e-mail requesting the pick up. They could at least e-mail a response!! I will never do business with them again.
