Does anyone know where I can buy the edging used on Carter's baby clothes? I've used fold over elastic but I'd really rather have the cotton knit. It isn't available at any fabric stores I have access to and I don't even know where to begin looking on line! Thanks.

Hi KSC,
I bought some at Home-Sew

http://www.homesew.com/index.html

This is also the same company as Newark Dressmaking Supply.

http://www.newarkdress.com/

So, you should be able to find it at either site.

I believe I saw a big selection at Michaels but not at Hobby Lobby.

Try the Etsy sites.
Lots of supplies and often easier, faster service than stores.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've found a lot of cotton knit bias tape sources but still nothing with a picot edge.

How good are you at making your own stuff? As you could always just do that.

One way would be to use matching cotton knit as a binding, or maybe some rib knit, and then make it picot scalloped edged afterwards, by running the outer edge of it though the sewing machine, and using a blind hem stitch on it, and just let the little outwards ticks of the blind hem stitch go off the free edge of it, and pull that knit inwards there, and that would make it kind of scalloped looking.

Or if you want real thread scallops of the edge of it, and you have some "it" as in left over or suitable fabric you could probably just stick some clear wash a way stabilizer under the folded edge of it, or even that wash a way paper stuff if you want stiffer temporary, and then sew a zig zag satin stitch scallop off the edge of it and only letting that catch the real fabric, on the inside edges of those scallops. When you wash out the rest of it, that would remain.

If you don't need too much of it, either of those things would probably be pretty quick, and at least they would match up color and fabric wise.
