I just couldn't bring myself to start over, it was so much work to make the melted one, and it is SO CUTE, I decided to just make it work.

First I had to patch the hole I cut in it when I tried to remove the melted batting. I fused a little piece of fabric onto the front and back, so hopefully it will stay. It is a TINY hole. It is noticeable to me, but hubby didn't see a thing.

Then I added an extra bit of the fluffy batting under the melted part, and I decided to use extra loft poly batting for the batting on the whole thing. I WAS going to use the thinner batting but thought the fluffy stiff would help hide the stiff part better.

I used cotton on the back! It was my first time ever using cotton! I actually really like it!

It is not as easy to work with as fleece, it doesn't slide on the teflon as well, but I managed to not get any folds on the back. I just outlined the animals and tried to go as light as I could on the leaves, especially the stiff ones.

The batting was cheap stuff from Hobby Lobby. No where NEAR the quality of the Quilter's Dream Puff.

The finished quilt is ADORABLE! It is SO puffy and fluffy, like extra thick puffy and fluffy from doubled up high loft batting. i LOVE it! I am so glad I used the damaged one. The texture on the tiger and the giraffe is awesome!

So now I am FINISHED with all the baby shower presents! I made 5 burp cloths with embroidered birdseye diaper cotton on the front, super absorbent micro-fiber terry in the middle and the cute print on the back. A vinyl covered diaper clutch/changing pad. A family of 3 fleece stuffed elephants from the same fabric line, and the quilt. Oh and I also made her her sash for the baby shower she wanted.

here are 2 of the elephants. I made one more little one-they are so cute!

I'm so glad you made it work, the quilt is adorable and I remember how upset you were when you didn't think you could fix it. Elephants are adorable too, lucky baby!

Where there's a will, there's away.

Be sure to give recipients a heads up where there is a possibility batting or fabric cannot be subjected to a hot iron.

Wow! So glad your genius self found a solution to your melted quilt. I suspected you would. As for the rest- I'll say you're getting everything going gorgeously! I wanna grandchild! Shhhhhh, my sweet young 22-year old did not hear that. Not at all. Egads that baby stuff is so appealing. Cat these adorables could sway the most calm and collected person out of utter reasonableness. OK, think I'm back to my usual self. As long as I don't look at your post again. Tooooooo cute!!!
